Health Concerns

With growing health concerns sweeping the nation the quality of substance we let into our body is becoming more and more prevalent.  Most Americans actively try not to eat foods with high sugar levels, grease oils and fats.  Most Americans are also staying away from the high sugar filled juices and sodas and switching to water as a healthier alternative.  Water does not contain any calories, fats, or sugars so we assume its healthier.  In reality water can possibly cause more harm.  The tap water we use for drinking water is filled with chemicals like bleach and chlorine and parasites like Giardia and Cryptosporidium.  In some cases our drinking water has been found to have traces of feces.  We as Americans assume our water is healthy because it is given to us by the government.  When in actuality it is proven to be too costly for the government to properly purify our drinking water supply.  The water we drink is not healthy at all.  We have to realize that the water we drink has been on the earth for billions of years.  Even though the earth has it’s own cleaning system, humans have been filling the planet with pollutants much faster than the earth can clean itself.  The result we get is drinking water that is not healthy and can cause cancer, heart disease, fatigue and rapid organ failure.  As a healthier approach, those who have educated themselves about the dangers of tap water, have begun to drink bottled water.  What most people don’t know is that most bottled water is just standard drinking water put into a bottle and sold at an extremely inflated price.  Drinking water from a bottle can be just as unhealthy as drinking water from the tap.  The same chlorine chemicals still exist in the bottled water and now include the chemicals used to make the plastic bottle.  Overtime the bottle dissolves slowly and those particles go into the water.  Drinking bottled water is also damaging to the environment.  It can take a water bottle up to a thousand years to decompose.  Which means there will be landfills filled with nothing but water bottles in the near future. Recycling solves that problem but how often do people just throw away bottles in the garbage without thought.  Most bottled water is not good as drinking water because all the nutritious components such as fluoride have been removed.  Another leading factor that bottle water is not suitable drinking water is that there are natural PH levels that make water healthy to the human body.  Drinking water ideally should have a PH level of 7-7.5 to be healthy for the body.  Most bottle waters have a PH level under 5.5 which is very acidic.  Acidic water can cause the liver as well as many other organs to shut down and not function properly.  Most consumers see drinking water as just drinking water.  In fact most Americans are not informed about the harmful chemical they ingest everyday from bottle waters and common tap water.
